Disclosed are a drum washing machine and a control method thereof. The washing machine comprises: a housing; an inner tub arranged in the housing, a laundry delivery port being formed in a tub opening of the inner tub corresponding to the housing; and a foam detection device arranged in the housing and used for detecting the foam at the laundry delivery port. The control method comprises: detecting, by a washing machine, the foam at a laundry delivery port by means of a foam detection device, and controlling, according to the detection result, whether to start the defoaming measure. According to the washing machine provided by the present invention, the foam at the laundry delivery port is detected by the arranged foam detection device, the defoaming measure is taken in time when foam is detected, and the problem that a large amount of foam overflows from the laundry delivery port due to the fact that a large amount of foam is accumulated at the laundry delivery port in the washing process; meanwhile, the phenomenon that the user experience is affected due to the fact that a user sees a large amount of foam when opening the door is avoided.
