Abstract:
This drying device (7) dries a sheet on which an image is formed while conveying the sheet, wherein: the drying device (7) comprises a conveying section (15) that conveys the sheet in a prescribed conveying direction, a heating section (13) that is disposed above the conveying section (15) and that heats the sheet conveyed by the conveying section (15), and a support section (17) that, through current conduction, supports the conveying section (15) in the position where the sheet is heated by the heating section (13); and when current conduction to the support section (17) is blocked, the force supporting the conveying section (15) at the heating position weakens, and the conveying section (15) descends to a retracted position that is separated downward from the heating section (13).
