Abstract:
This electric motor drive device (2) has: a connection switching device (60) having switches (61-63) and switching the connection states of the windings (71-73) of an electric motor (7) by performing switching operation of the switches during the rotating operation of the electric motor; an inverter (30) which applies AC voltages to the windings via the switches and to which reverse electromotive forces are applied from the windings of the electric motor during the rotating operation via the switches; and a control device (100) for controlling the rotating operation of the electric motor by controlling the inverter and causing the connection switching device to switch the connection states. The electric motor drive device is equipped with: a first step having a current control period (Pc) in which the first effective values of the AC current flowing through the windings are made closer to zero than the second effective values of the AC currents flowing through the windings before the switching operation of the switches; and a second step being the step after the first step and having a power supply stop period (Ps) in which the AC voltages output by the inverter are stopped. The switching operation of the switches is performed during the period of the second step.
