Abstract:
This electrically operated brake device has: a speed reduction mechanism for transmitting the rotational force of an electric motor; a ball screw mechanism for converting the rotational force of the speed reduction mechanism into thrust force; a piston driven by the ball screw mechanism; and a caliper for supporting the piston in a movable manner. The ball screw mechanism is configured such that a base nut is supported so as to be incapable of rotating relative to the caliper, and a push rod which receives rotational force from the speed reduction mechanism is movable in the axial direction of the push rod relative to the base nut. As a result, the axial length of the cylinder section of the caliper body can be reduced to achieve compactness. Consequently, the easiness of mounting of the electrically operated brake device 1 on a vehicle can be improved.
