Abstract:

A saddle elevating mechanism (70) in which a possibility that various members attached externally interfere with the operation of a bicycle (10) is eliminated positively while ensuring a beautiful appearance of the bicycle (10), and a bicycle having that mechanism. A seat pipe (21) is internally fitted with substantially all members constituting the saddle elevating mechanism (70) including a lower coil spring (73) for urging a saddle post (51) upward, a stopper (71) for regulating elevation&sol lowering of the saddle post (51), and the inner cable (75a) of a double cable (75) for releasing the stopper (71) through operation of an operating dial (74b) of an operating member (74). Consequently, the bicycle (10) is prevented from having a complicated appearance.
