Abstract:
An elevator controller having an ordinary structure where the generated power in regenerating operation is consumed by a resistor chopper (18) additionally comprises an electric double-layer capacitor (21) connected parallel to a DC capacitor (3) for smoothing the DC ripple of a rectifier circuit (2) for rectifying the AC power of an AC power supply (1), having a capacitance much larger than that of the DC capacitor, and capable of storing almost all the regenerated power from a motor, a voltage detecting circuit (22) for detecting the terminal voltage of the electric double-layer capacitor, and a drive control section (5) for using a voltage near the rated voltage of the electric double-layer capacitor as the operating voltage of the resistor chopper and controlling the operation of the resistor chopper when the terminal voltage detected by the voltage detecting circuit reaches the voltage near the rated voltage of the electric double-layer capacitor.
