Disclosed is an elevator device capable of very reliably detecting the position at which a door can be opened. This elevator device comprises a position detection device and a safety controller that outputs a signal to indicate whether the door is in a door openable position. The position detection device has a first position detection unit (1) that has a first position detector and a first detected body provided in a position corresponding to a floor landing position, and a second position detection unit (3) that detects the absolute position. The safety controller comprises a database (21) that stores data for the door openable position, an abnormality determination unit (23) to determine abnormalities in the second position detection unit, and a door openable position output unit (22) that outputs, when there is no abnormality, a signal indicating whether the door is in the door openable position on the basis of results of determining whether the output of the second position detection unit is within the range of data for the door openable position and that outputs, when there is an abnormality, an output signal of the first position detection unit as the signal indicating whether the door is in the door openable position.
