Abstract:
This elevator rope is provided with both a rope body and a resin cover layer which covers the outer periphery of the rope body and is characterized in that the resin cover layer comprises an ionically crosslinked thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer obtained from a thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer which has an ionic substituent in the molecule by ionically crosslinking the ionic substituent. It is preferable that the ionically crosslinked thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer is either a product obtained by ionically crosslinking a thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer which has an anionic substituent in the molecule with polyvalent metal cations or a product obtained by ionically crosslinking thermoplastic polyurethane elastomers which each have both a cationic substituent and an anionic substituent in the molecule with each other. The elevator rope exhibits a stable friction coefficient which is independent of temperature or sliding speed.
