Abstract:
This emergency braking device for a passenger conveyor is provided with: a ratchet wheel that is disposed on a main shaft and is rotated integrally with the main shaft; an engagement hook that is rotated between a position in which the tip side is separated from the ratchet wheel and a position in which the tip side is engaged with the ratchet wheel; a spring that is attached to the engagement hook and turns the engagement hook to engage with the ratchet wheel; a shaft to which the engagement hook is fixed and which rotates in coordination with the rotation of the engagement hook; and a shoe that is removably attached to the shaft and is disposed so as to abut a drive chain. If the shoe is attached to the shaft and abuts the drive chain, the rotation of the engagement hook is regulated, separating the engagement hook from the ratchet wheel; and if the shoe is removed from the shaft, the engagement hook is rotated to engage with the ratchet wheel.
