Abstract:
The present disclosure addresses the problem of providing an enzyme capable of dehydroxylating a hydroxyl group located at a specific position in a urolithin compound that has a hydroxyl group at at least the specific position. The problem can be solved by an enzyme having the following properties (1) and (2): (1) the enzyme can dehydroxylate a hydroxyl group located at position-4 in a urolithin compound; and (2) the enzyme can be activated by one or more components selected from the group consisting of reduced-type nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH), reduced-type nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH), flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD) and flavin adenine mononucleotide (FMN) in the presence of methyl viologen (MV).
