Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a step dropping-off detection apparatus (7) that, when a step (5) drops off from a step shaft (4), prevents devices inside a machine chamber from being damaged. The step dropping-off detection apparatus (7) is provided with a capturing part (19) and a detection part (20). The capturing part (19) receives the step (5) having dropped from the step shaft (4) at a portion above the floor of the machine chamber of an escalator (1). When the capturing part (19) receives the step (5), the detection part (20) transmits a signal for stopping the escalator (1) to a control panel (8) that controls operation of the escalator (1).
