Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a novel useful alcohol and a derivative thereof, which are industrially more valuable than conventional petrochemical raw materials. [Solution] An ethanol which contains an inorganic component and/or an organic component, and which is configured such that: the inorganic component contains at least one component that is selected from the group consisting of silicon at a content of from 10 mg/L to 100 mg/L (inclusive), chromium at a content of 0.6 mg/L or less, iron at a content of 2.0 mg/L or less, sodium at a content of from 150 mg/L to 1,000 mg/L (inclusive) and potassium at a content of from 1.0 mg/L to 10 mg/L (inclusive); and the organic component contains at least one component that is selected from the group consisting of an aliphatic hydrocarbon at a content of from 0.16 mg/L to 10 mg/L (inclusive), an aromatic compound at a content of from 0.4 mg/L to 10 mg/L (inclusive) and a dialkyl ether at a content of from 0.1 mg/L to 100 mg/L (inclusive).
