Abstract:
Provided is a practical exhaust-flow control unit disposed on the inlet end of a catalyst. An exhaust-flow control unit 50, disposed on the inlet end of a catalytic converter 48 that scrubs exhaust gas from an engine E of an outboard motor 10, is for controlling exhaust-gas flow directed toward the catalytic converter 48, and is provided with: a plurality of flow-regulating plates 70 for changing the flow of the exhaust gas; and a plurality of struts 72 for supporting, respectively, the flow-regulating plates 70 along the inlet end of the catalytic converter 48. Each of the struts 72 extends radially and substantially parallel to the leading-end face 60A of the catalytic converter 48, and the flow-regulating plates 70 extend toward the catalytic device 48, perpendicularly with respect to the axis of extension of the struts 72.
