Abstract:
An adsorbent supply unit (41) supplies a mercury adsorbent to exhaust gas in a flue (3). An upstream mercury concentration meter (45) is capable of switching between a 0-valent mercury measurement mode for measuring the 0-valent mercury concentration of the exhaust gas and a total mercury measurement mode for measuring the total mercury concentration of the exhaust gas. A control unit (40): controls the mercury adsorbent supply amount on the basis of the 0-valent mercury concentration of the upstream mercury concentration meter in the 0-valent mercury measurement mode; acquires, on the basis of the 0-valent mercury concentration, a rating value representing the integrated amount of 0-valent mercury in the exhaust gas in periods in which the 0-valent mercury concentration is greater than a first threshold; when, following said periods, the 0-valent mercury concentration falls to the first threshold or less, compares the rating value with a second threshold; and when the rating value is greater than the second threshold, switches the upstream mercury concentration meter to the total mercury measurement mode and controls the mercury adsorbent supply amount on the basis of the total mercury concentration.
