[Problem] To provide an extending and contracting rail device in which an upward-pushing roller does not detach from an upward-pushing lever when manually raising a movable rail onto a fixed rail. [Solution] When a movable rail 2 is in an extended position, an upward-pushing lever 8 is pushed by an upward-pushing roller 5 and stores energy in an energy-storing means 9 while falling, and when a base end part 2a of the movable rail 2 is positioned so as to be mounted on a tip end part 1a of a fixed rail 1, the upward-pushing lever 8 rises and pushes up the upward-pushing roller 5 by means of energy released from the energy-storing means 9. Initial force for when the movable rail 2 is retracted in a contraction direction is supplemented by means of an upward-pushing means 4. A stopper 10 for restricting the range of movement of the upward-pushing roller 5 projects out from left and right side surfaces of a web 1d on a tip end part 1a side of the fixed rail 1, so that said upward-pushing roller 5 does not exceed the radius of rotation of the upward-pushing lever 8 when the movable rail 2 is manually raised onto the fixed rail 1.
