Title:
EXTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1998/025010
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
An external combustion engine employing a closed cycle which is ecological and highly economical. Fields of application include diesel locomotives, tractors, combines, trucks, shipbuilding, isolated electric power plants, structural engineering, and installations for the conversion of thermal energy into other energy forms. The embodiment of the external combustion engine comprises a working cylinder with a piston, a connecting rod, a crankshaft, a combustion chamber, a secondary piston, a waste heat exchanger/reclaimer, a chargeable cell/generator filled with a thermal capacity charge, and a steam line with a cylinder. The value of the engine power is regulated by modulating the fuel feed and the working medium supply, by means of the secondary piston. The residual heat of the combustion products is used in the waste heat exchanger to incrementally heat the air drawn into the combustion chamber.
