A feed apparatus for a sewing machine, comprising an upper feed assembly having a roller press and a lower feed assembly having a feed roller (11) matching the roller press. The lower feed assembly comprises a support assembly (6), a lower stepper motor (8), and a lower transmission shaft (10) connected to the lower stepper motor (8) by means of a first transmission assembly (9), the lower transmission shaft (10) being connected to the feed roller (11) by means of a second transmission assembly (7). The support assembly (6) comprises a stand (61) and a feed roller assembly support (62) having a length smaller than that of the stand (61) and being connected at the upper portion of the stand (61). The lower transmission shaft (10) is disposed inside of the stand (61). The lower stepper motor (8) is fixedly connected to the stand (61) and is disposed at the external side of the stand (61). Compared to the prior art, in the present feed apparatus for a sewing machine, the lower stepper motor can be conveniently installed and removed, the lower transmission shaft has a shorter length, and the feed roller assembly support has a smaller dimension, thereby reducing the cost of the sewing machine.
