Title:
FENDER SKIRT AND TIRE THERMAL CONTROL SYSTEM
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2014/078421
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
A shroud or fender skirt that surrounds a tire that has a thermal control system associated therewith for helping the tire to reach a stable state temperature more quickly than usual and/or operating at a higher steady state temperature. The thermal control system may comprise a fender skirt that surrounds one or more tires and that has a movable surface such as a fan and/or some sort of ventilation associated therewith such as slots that can be shut with louvers. The fan and/or ventilation can be operated to change the amount of air moved across the surface of the tire, so as to warm said tire so that an equilibrium stable state temperature is reached, which is optimal for reducing the tire's rolling resistance.
