Abstract:
A file is stored in the form of subfiles, and file management information is provided about the file and subfiles, respectively, and is stored. Media identification information for identifying the media is produced from the ID of the storage device used for the initialization of the media and from date information indicating the date of the first initialization, and it is stored in the recording media as an item that composes the media management information, so that it can be checked whether the recording media corresponds to the stored media management information. The media identification information is stored in such a manner that it can be retrieved whatever part of the media is reproduced, thereby reducing the time required for confirmation.
