Abstract:
A filter material for purifying water of oil consists of oleophilic foam plastic with open and closed pores, the passage cross-section of each open and closed pore being equal to 10-60 mum and the total volume of said open and closed pores being equal to 45 % of the volume of the filter material. A method of making the filter material for purifying water of oil consists in desintegrating a rigid oleophilic foam plastic into particles of 1-5 mm, and their subsequent compacting to a density which is 1.5 to 2.3 times higher than its bulk density. A two-stage device for purifying water of oil comprises two casings (3) and (10) with interconnecting cavities. The cavity of the first casing (3) contains a first filter element (4) and a settling chamber (5), whereas the cavity of the second casing (10) contains a second filter element (11). The first (4) and the second (11) filter elements are made of an oleophilic foam plastic having open and closed pores with their passage cross-section being equal to 10-60 mum and the total volume of said pores being equal to at least 45 % of the volume of the filter material, and the ratio between the heights of the first (4) and the second (11) filter elements being equal to 0.4-0.65.
