Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a fireproof member that has excellent corrosion resistance and that exhibits excellent adhesiveness of a carbide coating film provided on a surface of a graphite base material. [Means] A fireproof member comprising a graphite base material and a carbide layer provided so as to at least partially coat a surface of the graphite base material, wherein the graphite base material has pores and a graphite phase, the carbide layer has a complex region, and the complex region includes an alternate region alternately including a graphite phase that at least continues by 50 μm or more and a carbide phase that at least continues by 50 μm or more, in a horizontal direction along an interface between the graphite base material and the carbide layer in a cross-sectional view in the thickness direction of the carbide layer.
