The purpose of the present invention is to provide foamable polystyrene resin particles that yield a foam-molded article capable of suppressing rubbing sounds while reducing contamination of a prefoaming machine and molding dies without applying a large amount of external additive, and a method for producing the same foamable polystyrene resin particles. This method for producing foamable polystyrene resin particles includes a resin particle production step for producing polystyrene resin particles configured from a styrene monomer and a polysiloxane-containing macromonomer, and a foamable resin particle production step for impregnating the polystyrene resin particles with a foaming agent to produce foamable polystyrene resin particles, the method being achievable by a method for producing foamable polystyrene resin particles in which an initiator that generates an alkoxy radical and/or carbonate radical is added simultaneously with addition of the polysiloxane-containing macromonomer in the resin particle production step.
