Abstract:
This focus control device is provided with: an input unit into which a captured image is inputted; a movement unit; a processing unit which, for each of multiple range-finding regions, derives a contrast value of the image in the range-finding region which changes in response to the movement unit moving the position of a focus lens, and which performs either first processing, in which the contrast value peak is identified on the basis of the contrast value of each of the multiple range-finding regions and the position of the focus lens that corresponds to the identified contrast value peak is identified as the focus position, or second processing, in which the contrast value peak is identified on the basis of the sum of the contrast values derived from the multiple range-finding regions and the position of the focus lens corresponding to the identified contrast value peak is identified as the focus position; and a control unit which performs control for switching whether the processing unit carries out the first processing or the second processing depending on the amount of change in the position of the image of the subject, which corresponds to change in image magnification of the imaging lens, wherein the movement unit moves the focus lens to the focus position identified by the processing unit.
