Abstract:
The invention relates to a freely rotating gripper (4) for double lockstitch sewing machines, comprising a bobbin capsule (8) with an arresting finger (11) whereby a radially projecting loop deflector element (13, 14) is arranged on the circumferential side of the bobbin capsule (8), close to the arresting finger (11). The split loop (AS), formed by the occasional unavoidable sticking of the needle (1) through the needle thread end, is forcibly deflected onto the front face of the bobbin capsule (8), thus avoiding a jamming of the gripper (4).
