A fully automatic opening and closing umbrella comprises: a central pole (1), an upper runner (21), a lower runner (22), an umbrella handle (3), and umbrella ribs (4). The central pole (1) is formed of at least two tubes connected by means of slidably insertion in an outward direction, and comprises a first tube (11) connected to the umbrella handle (3), and a second tube (12) sleeved onto the first tube (11). A motor (5) is provided inside the umbrella handle (3). An output shaft of the motor (5) is connected to a transmission member provided in an internal cavity of the first tube (11). A gear rack (7) is fixedly provided inside the second tube (12) in a length direction thereof. The transmission member is provided with a structure engaging with the gear rack (7). Rotation of the motor (5) drives the gear rack (7) to move upwards or downwards by means of the transmission member. The fully automatic opening and closing umbrella transfers power by means of the transmission member provided at the first tube (11) and the gear rack (7) provided inside the second tube (12). The umbrella has enhanced reliability and durability, and a simple structure that realizes automatic extension and retraction of the central pole (1).
