Description:
TITLE: A FURNITURE STOOL FOR SITTING AND CLIMBING

FIELD OF THE INVENTION:

The present invention relates to a sitting and working furniture. More particularly it relates to a novel furniture stool for sitting and climbing.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION:

The table or stool is a type of furniture used everywhere. The stool is a small table usually having three or four legs and a flat planer surface placed thereon. The stool is used mainly for the sitting and the climbing to reach the higher spaces.

Especially in the clothing and garment shops it is frequently used for picking and keeping the cloths from the drawers, compartments.

Stools have been used since antiquity. There have been many utility patents and design protections filed for various arrangements and shapes of chairs with working pad assembly. US366884, US517929, US1281189A disclosed folding stools; US768478A disclosed a portable folding stool; US9016796 disclosed portable pedestal stool.

As per the requirement the height of the stool is optimized. Especially when one wants to climb up high then he opts for the high stool. Usually for climbing up the steps are made by fixing the horizontal plates on the legs of stool. The length and width of these plates are limited and doesn’t offer comfort to the climber. There is a high risk of slip down. In fact, now a days each and every inch of space is important and especially in shops and other commercial places the user can’t afford to waste the space by keeping the more objects or space occupying objects.

There still remains a need to provide more simple and comfortable system which can also provide ease in operation. The current invention satisfy these needs by providing a stool which can be used for sitting as well as climbing purpose. It has one or more wide step that can be pulled out of the stool when needed and can be placed back by simply pushing inside i the stool. The step doesn t cause inconvenience as it can be accommodated as an integral part of stool when not in use. It saves the space also.

It is simple in construction and operation.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

As mentioned, there remained a long felt need to provide a simple and comfortable system which can also provide ease in operation. The present embodiment tries to address this long felt need. It provides a stool which can be used for sitting as well as climbing purpose. It has one or more wide step that can be pulled out of the stool when needed and can be placed back by simply pushing inside the stool.

Referring now to the figures, where similar reference characters denote corresponding features consistently throughout the figures, preferred embodiments are shown.

In first aspect the present invention herein provides a furniture stool comprising: a) four legs (1 ) arranged in a manner to make a quadrilateral and rested thereon with a first seat portion (2); b) two slider means (3,3’)

- first slider means (3) protruding from or fastened to a first pair of adjacent legs which are selected from said four legs (1 ),

- second slider means (3’) protruding from or fastened to a second pair of adjacent legs which are selected from said four legs (1 ) but are different than the legs in the first pair, and

- positioned parallel to the ground surface and to each other; c) a locking means placed near a third pair of adjacent legs which are selected from said four legs (1 ); d) a movable second seat portion (6) sliding on the first and second slider means (3,3’) for pushing inside and pulling outside of a hollow space (7) created within said four legs (1 )

- also rested and balanced on one or more leg(s) (5), said leg(s) (5) lockable with said locking means for keeping it in fixed position when completely pushed inside of said hollow space (7), and

- lockable with said locking means for keeping it in fixed position when pulled outside of said hollow space (7).

The two slider means (3,3’) may be of same or different type. These can be selected from a flat slider strip and a ball bearing slide.

FIGURE 1 show one of the exemplary embodiment illustrating the schematic drawing of the furniture stool according to current invention in which a movable second seat portion (6) is rested and balanced on two leg(s) (5) and shown as shaded portion.

As can be seen in FIGURE 3, which is one of the preferred embodiment of the current invention, the stopper plate(s) (9) can be attached to one or more leg(s) (1 ) from the said third pair of adjacent legs or to the one or more slider mean(s) (3,3’) to form said locking mechanism against which said leg(s) (5) are opposed and keep said movable second seat portion (6) in fixed position when completely pushed inside of said hollow space (7). Again referring to FIGURE 1 , the complimentary plate(s) (8) can be attached to said movable second seat portion (6) that get opposed against said stopper plate(s) (9) and keep said movable second seat portion (6) in fixed position when completely pulled outside of said hollow space (7) as shown in FIGURES 1 , 2 and 6.
