Abstract:
Disclosed is a gene transfer agent which can introduce a gene into a cell in the resting state (e.g., a macrophage, a lymphocyte). The gene transfer agent comprises a polyprex composed of a polymeric compound and a nucleic acid and a peptide comprising C45 adsorbed onto the polyprex, wherein the polymeric compound has multiple polymer chains introduced onto an aromatic ring as substituents and the peptide comprising C45 is a peptide composed of a 45-mer amino acid sequence segment lying between amino acid residue 52 and amino acid residue 96 in the amino acid sequence for HIV Vpr protein. In the gene transfer agent, the aromatic ring in the polymeric compound is a monocyclic aromatic ring having 5 to 8 carbon atoms or a fused ring formed by fusing aromatic rings each having 5 to 8 carbon atoms and each of the polymer chains is a polyacrylamide-type polymer block chain or a polyacrylate-type polymer block chain. Also disclosed is a gene vector comprising a polymeric compound as described above and at least one peptide selected from the group consisting of C45D18, C45D20 and C45D29 attached to the polymeric compound.
