Abstract:
A dimple pattern for a golf ball (20) with a thermoset polyurethane cover (21) is disclosed herein. The dimple pattern has multiple sets of dimples (34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44 and 46), each set of dimples (34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44 and 46) having a different diameter. A preferred set of dimples (34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44 and 46) is seven different dimples (34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44 and 46). The dimples (34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44 and 46) may cover as much as eighty-six percent of the surface (22) of the golf ball (20). The unique dimple pattern allows a golf ball (20) with a thermoset polyurethane cover (21) to have shallow dimples (34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44 and 46) with steeper entry angles. The unique dimple pattern also allows a golf ball (20) with a thermoset polyurethane cover (21) to have greater low speed lift with a lower high speed drag.
