Disclosed is a handheld muscle relaxation apparatus with a transversely arranged power source, the apparatus comprising a housing (60), a power source (2), a motor (21), a massage head module (11), and a power conversion mechanism. The power conversion mechanism is mounted inside the housing (60); the power source (2) is electrically connected to the motor (21); the motor (21) has a first rotation axis; the massage head module (11) is driven by the motor (21) by means of the power conversion mechanism to move in a linear reciprocating motion along a first axis; the housing (60) comprises a shell (1) and a handle (22) mounted on a lateral side of the shell (1); the motor (21) is mounted inside the handle (22); and the power source (2) is mounted inside the shell (1). During operation, a user holds the handle (22) of the relaxation apparatus. By means of providing the power conversion mechanism, the high-speed rotary motion of the motor (21) can be converted into a linear reciprocating motion of the massage head module (11), so as to realize high-frequency impact, pounding and massaging on a body part.
