Abstract:
A HMD 100 that comprises a camera 113 that photographs an outside scene, a camera abnormality detection unit 114 that detects operational abnormalities at the camera, a sensor group 115 that detects the locations, distances, etc. of objects in the outside scene, a sensor abnormality detection unit 116 that detects operational abnormalities at the sensor group, image generation units 121, 122 that generate images, and a mode switching unit 120 that switches the processing mode of the image generation units. The image generation units have a sophisticated AR processing mode 121 that uses image data from the camera and detection data from the sensor group to generate high-precision sophisticated AR images and a simple AR processing mode 122 that generates simple AR images that are simpler than the sophisticated AR images. When it has been determined that there is an abnormality in the operation of the camera or the sensor group, the mode switching unit switches to the simple AR processing mode.
