Abstract:
A heat exchanger (30) comprises a flow control element in a parallel passage (50). The flow control element is disposed at the end of the parallel passage (50). The flow control element includes one of a dome surface (54), a slope (56), a protruding surface (64), or a blade (69). The flow control element may include two or more of the dome surface (5) (4), the slope (56), the protruding surface (64), or the blade (69). The flow control element imparts a vertical flow component (FV) to the flow of a first medium in the parallel passage (50). As a result, the first medium is distributed to a plurality of first heat exchange passages (31a) without significant distribution bias over a wide area from immediately after the first medium enters a first distribution passage (31b) to the end of the first distribution passage (31b). As a result, a wide area of the heat exchanger (30) contributes to heat exchange.
