Abstract:
A helmet (100) with visualization and safety functions for sporting activities, usable by users or drivers of vehicles or sporting devices, such as motorcyclists, cyclists, users of e-bikes, skiers, etc., which includes an electronic device (10 ), consisting of an electronic circuit (11) with processor (12) equipped with dedicated management software and firmware, Bluetooth (13), GPS (14), gyroscope (16), SIM (15), Internet transmitter (17), accelerometer (18), audio chip and loudspeaker (19), motion sensor (20) RFID reader (21 ) and connection device to at least a PCB (40) comprising a series of leds; the electronic device (10) is adapted to visualize the braking and the changes of direction of the user during the sport activity, record the data related to the actions performed by the user and/or the data of an event during which the user suffers a collision or impact or another incident, send the collected data to a control server or to other institutions.

Claims:
CLAIMS

1 . A helmet (100) with display and safety functions for sporting activities, usable by users or drivers of vehicles or sporting devices, such as motorcyclists, cyclists, e-bike users, skiers, etc., characterized in that said helmet (13) is associated to an electronic device (10), comprising an electronic circuit (1 1 ) with a processor (12) having a dedicated management software and firmware, a Bluetooth chip (13), GPS sensor (14), gyroscope (16), SIM (15), transmitter (17), accelerometer (18), RFID chip reader (21 ) and loudspeaker (19), motion sensors (20) and a connection device to at least a PCB (40) powered by one or more rechargeable batteries (30) or by an induction system, said electronic device (10) being configured to display the braking and directional changes of the user during the sporting activity, record data relating to the actions taken by the user and/or data of an event during which the user has a collision, impact or another incident send said data to a control server or to other institutions, send automatically an emergency call in case of impact and/or accident which the user has suffered, store information and/or images and/or documents.

2. A helmet (100) according to claim 1 , characterized in that said electronic device (10) is coupled to a passive or active TAG fixed to said vehicle or sporting device.

3. A helmet (100) according to claim 1 , characterized in that said management software of the electronic device (10) allows to receive and send notifications of ongoing dangers or possible dangers between parties concerned with the supply and use of a sporting service (1 ).

A helmet (100) according to claim 1 , characterized in that said management software of said electronic device (10) processes the data of said GPS sensor (14) and of said gyroscope (16) together with the data sent by said accelerometer (18), in order to assess whether a reduction in speed of said vehicle or sporting device, calculated within a predetermined time interval, is within a predetermined range of values.

A helmet (100) according to claim 4, characterized in that, in the helmet in which said vehicle speed decrease, calculated within a predetermined time interval, is outside said predetermined range of values, said electronic device (10) switches on said LEDs of said at least one PCB (40), said LEDs flashing in order to show a stop signal.

6. A helmet (100) according to claim 5, characterized in that said LEDs placed on said PCB (40) are switched on until said accelerometer (18) communicates to said electronic device (10) a speed increase above said predetermined range of values of the vehicle or of the sporting device.

7. A helmet (100) according to claim 6, characterized in that said LEDs are switched on until said gyroscope (18) communicates to said electronic device (10) a return of the user to a position perpendicular with respect to the ground.

A helmet (100) according to at least one of the preceding claims, characterized in that said electronic device (10) continuously processes and stores the data sent by said electronic circuit (1 1 ), so that, if said data are within certain predetermined ranges, said electronic device (10) stores said data in a memory for a first prefixed minimum time.

A helmet (100) according to claim 7, characterized in that, if the user has a collision, impact or another incident, said electronic device (10), by processing, said data sent from the electronic circuit (1 1 ) which are outside said predetermined ranges, stores permanently, for a predetermined time greater than said first prefixed minimum time, said data and sends said data, via an Internet connection (17), to a control server, subsequently providing for their cancellation.

A helmet (100) according to claim 8, characterized in that said electronic device (10) is able to activate an emergency call to both said control server and to an emergency center and, after a determined time, after verifying that there is no movement within the user's helmet (100), said electronic device (10) activates a new emergency call, which can be manually deactivated by the user by means of a button (26) placed on the helmet (100).

HELMET WITH DISPLAY AND SAFETY FUNCTION FOR SPORT ACTIVITIES

The present invention refers to a helmet with information display and

5 safety functions for sporting activities users, like motorcyclists, cyclists, users of e-bikes, skiers, etc. composed of an electronic device managed by special software able to:

- display the braking and the changes of direction during the sports activity, in order to alert the other subjects that follow;

10 - record continuously and for a short period of time the data relating to the

actions carried out by the user during his run on the road or on other paths or in the sport activity and record permanently (or for a longer period of time), the data of an event during which the user has suffered a collision or impact or another incident (black box);

15 - send the data collected, in an event, during which the user has suffered a

collision or impact or another incident, to a central control server, which can, in turn, provide them to other institutions for verification of responsibilities;

- automatically send an emergency call (eCALL) in case of collision and/or 20 impact and/or a serious accident that the user has suffered, in the event that the aforementioned user is in an unconscious state and does not block the function of an emergency call;

- receive notifications from the operator of a ski lift or a sports track or a ski track, such as for example in this last case: the signaling of a closed track,

25 information on the types/characteristics of a track, signaling of closed track or system, signaling of areas with reduced speed (due to danger or for the presence of beginners), warning of avalanche danger or important weather events, signaling of programmed snow condition in progress, warning of track border or off-track, etc.

30 The electronic device used in the helmet according to the present invention includes an electronic circuit with processor, accelerometer, Bluetooth, GPS, gyroscope, SIM, Internet transmitter, RFID reader, audio chip and loudspeaker, motion sensor and connection device with PCB including LEDs, low consumption and high brightness, all powered by one or more rechargeable batteries with USB cable or by an induction system managed by dedicated software and firmware.

Moreover, the electronic device can be associated to the helmet in a removable manner and can be applied to any object worn by a user or any part of the body; the association can take place mechanically, magnetically or otherwise, such as by means of a latex and/or velcro cuff. Optionally, it is also possible to use a passive or active TAG to be fixed on the motorcycle, cycle, e-bike, ski or other sports device, to which an insurance policy may be associated and on which various data are stored and/or vehicle information or other sports device.

Furthermore, one or more control central servers with dedicated software are adapted to receive the data sent by the electronic device associated with the helmet, to eventually create animated graphics simulations of the received data relative to the events that have occurred; the above data and simulations can then be sent to the institutions requesting it.

The stored data can also be used by the user for his own personal performance statistics or shared with other users

The system can also be equipped with cameras placed at the front and rear of the helmet with wide angle, whose video or still images, can be transmitted to servers and/or other devices and/or other users. Also, it will be able to manage one or more lights for the visibility of the user in case of fog.

The purpose of the helmet, an object of the present invention is to allow the user (motorcyclist, cyclist, e-bike user, skier, etc.) to dispose of:

- a preventive security system, through display functions, stops and changes of direction, thus preventing possible accidents;

- an active safety system, in the event of a serious accident, with the possibility of alerting the rescue immediately; - a system of support for disputes, arising with regard to the determination of objective responsibilities in the event of an accident with reimbursement of damages.

Furthermore, the helmet, object of the invention allows:

- deliver the data collected during the journey on the road or during the sporting activities to companies that manage road infrastructures or to companies that manage sporting activities to eliminate the causes of accidents and to send other data information;

- deliver the data collected during the journey on the road or during sports activities to companies that manage defined activities of "smart city" to manage critical points in traffic (queues, work in progress, accidents, etc.);

- interact with other vehicles on the road or with other subjects wearing a helmet with the same functions.

- receive notifications from operators of a ski lift or a sports route or a ski slope for dangerous situations and/or technical information concerning sports routes and/or ski slopes.

Furthermore, the system can incorporate other functions such as:

- with dedicated electronic sensors such as a laser ray and/or ultrasound sensor, which can communicate with a location that delimits the "boundary" of the track (for example poles and/or networks) in order to prevent accidents;

- send - from the user - to the operators of a ski lift or of a sports path or track, notices for obstacles or for possible causes that can cause impacts and/or accidents.

There are still known, for example from document EP2626245A1 , means for displaying the actions of stopping and changing direction of a vehicle, such as a motorcycle, cycle or e-bike, as is known, for example from document EP1312273B1 , "smart" helmets, Including global location systems, environmental interaction sensors and mobile communication devices to provide data, monitor driver actions and conditions and send data and information on the position and conditions of the driver himself. Furthermore, documents WO201 1018168A1 and WO2017137083A1 describe systems and methods for detecting an accident and activating an emergency call, by means of sensors placed on the helmet of the driver of a motor vehicle.

The object of the present invention is to provide a helmet with functions for displaying information and safety for users of sporting activities, such as motorcyclists, cyclists, users of e-bikes, skiers, etc. and to receive and send notifications of hazards in progress or possible dangers among those interested in the offer and use of a sports service, which is extremely advanced and complete in terms of immediate and future use.

Another object of the present invention is to reduce the number of victims among "weak subjects" (motorcyclists, cyclists, users of e-bikes, skiers, etc.), unfortunately growing in all the advanced countries.

Another object of the present invention is to reduce the social costs and in particular the costs for medical and rehabilitative expenses for nation states.

Advantageously, the present invention mainly concerns an active prevention and safety system including an electronic device managed by dedicated firmware and software, able to alert drivers of means of transport or other subjects, who follow a user or vehicle driver, such as a motorcyclist, cyclist, e-bike user, skier, etc., of his imminent stop or change of direction, as well as to detect and memorize an event that caused an accident and immediately alert the rescuers in case of a serious accident.

Further features and advantages of the helmet with display and safety functions for sports activities and management of information among the subjects interested in the offer and use of a sports service, according to the present invention, will be more evident from the description of a mode of execution. Exemplary and preferred, but not limitative, and from the attached tables of drawings, where: - figure 1 shows a schematic and partially sectioned view of a helmet with display and safety functions for sports activities, according to the present invention;

- figure 2 shows a schematic view of the electronic device associated with the helmet according to figure 1 , according to the present invention.

With reference to the figures mentioned, the user, such as a motorcyclist, cyclist, user of e-bikes, skier, etc. can provide to associate a passive or active TAG, supplied by the insurance company of the vehicle or of the sports device, to an electronic device (10) associated with a helmet (100), so that all the data detected during its path or its sporting activities refer to that particular user and, in the event of an incident, the data relating to the helmet black box function (100) refer to the vehicle (cycle, motorcycle, etc.) or to the sport device (ski, skate, etc.) associated, or to monitor sports activities and/or used for other purposes.

When the user of the vehicle or sports device is about to stop, the electronic device management software (10) processes the data of its GPS sensors (14) and gyroscope (16) together with the data sent by the accelerometer sensor (18).

This action determines, from the circuit (1 1 ) of the electronic device (10), the intermittent ignition (for greater visibility and lower energy consumption), of a series of LEDs mounted on respective PCB (40) of the electronic device (10) for signalling of stop; the LEDs, powered by the batteries (30), remain in action until the accelerometer sensor (18) communicates to the electronic device (10) an increase in speed given by the restart of the user.

Similarly, in a situation of change of direction, the gyroscope (16) of the electronic device (10) commands, through the relative management software, the activation of a visual signal through the LEDs placed on the PCB (40) of the helmet (100) and, in particular, by means of the right or left direction LEDs of these PCB (40), as well as any signal that can be heard through a beeper on the helmet (100) to the user. The beeper and the direction LEDs will remain in action intermittently, for greater visibility and less energy consumption, until the gyro sensor (16) communicates to the electronic device (10) a return of the user to the position perpendicular to the ground.

The electronic device (10) of the helmet (100), according to the present invention, is also capable, throughout the user's journey, of continuously processing and storing the data sent by the various sensors present in its electronic circuit (1 1 ); if the aforementioned data remain within certain ranges established at the software level, the electronic device (10) keeps them in memory only for a predetermined minimum time, for example, 15 seconds (redundant system).

In the case, however, the user suffers a collision or an impact or another type of accident, the electronic device (10), processing the received data that will result "out of norm", provides to store in a stable way, for a longer time established of the aforementioned minimum time (for example, for a time of 1 minute), the actions occurred before, during and after the incident and all data relating to the event and immediately afterwards, via an internet connection (chip (17)), to a central control server, providing after their possible cancellation.

A particular version of the black box, will be able to keep in memory all the data collected during the use of the vehicle or during sports practice, data that can then be downloaded to another electronic device and that can serve the user and/or others subjects for personal use or other needs, including statistical ones.

For example, if the user undergoes an event that the electronic device management software (10) considers the electronic device to be "out of standard", at the same time as the memorization of the event data for the "black box" function (10) identifies whether the parameters of "nonstandard" fall within a threshold established for a serious event.

In this case, the electronic device (10) immediately activates an emergency call (eCALL) both to a central control server and to an urgent aid and emergency centre, thanks to the SIM (15) placed in its electronic circuit (1 1 ); thus, after a predetermined time (for example, after 1 minute), verified by the movement sensor (20) located inside the padding of the helmet (100) that there are no movements, the electronic device (10) activates a new call informing that the user is unconscious.

In this case, if the user realizes that the eCALL emergency call has been sent in a way that does not correspond to the need, the same user can deactivate the call by pressing a button (26) on the helmet (100).

The invention thus conceived and illustrated herein is susceptible of numerous modifications and variations, all of which are within the scope of the inventive concept.

Furthermore, all the details may be replaced by other technically equivalent elements.

Finally, the components used, as long as they are compatible with the specific use, as well as the dimensions, may be any according to requirements and to the state of the art.
