Abstract:
A HIPE foam (1) having a crosslinked vinyl polymer as a base resin. The crosslinked vinyl polymer is obtained by crosslinking a polymer of styrenic monomers and/or acrylic monomers. The apparent density ρ of the HIPE foam (1) is 35 kg/m3 to 500 kg/m3. The molecular weight between crosslink points in the crosslinked vinyl polymer constituting the HIPE foam (1) is 2×103 to 2×105. The HIPE foam (1) is used, for example, as a machinable material or a shock-absorbing material.
