Abstract:
When a manifold catalyst (6), which is a catalyst in an exhaust passage (5), is to be heated, a control unit (9) controls the electrical conduction to an electric heater (8) of the manifold catalyst (6) and the driving of an internal combustion engine (1) in accordance with the battery SOC of a battery (3). Consequently, a hybrid electric vehicle is able to make use of the portion of power consumption that is due to the motoring of an electric motor (2) to warm the manifold catalyst (6), and in general can shorten the driving time of the internal combustion engine (1) for warming the catalyst.
