Abstract:
A hydraulic cylinder (10) increases thrust by coupling a boosting piston (22) to a piston rod (18) in the second half of a stroke of an operation piston (20) and the piston rod (18). A through hole (63) radially extending and having an outer side connected to a third pressure chamber (42) is provided in the boosting piston (22). A lock piston (36) that, upon an increase in the inner pressure of the third pressure chamber (42), protrudes to the piston rod (18) side and engages with a connection groove (18a) in the piston rod (18), is provided in the through hole (63). Simultaneously with an operation of the boosting piston (22), the boosting piston (22) is connected to the piston rod (18).
