Provided is a hydroxyalkanoic acid crystal production method characterized by including a step for freeze-drying a solution containing hydroxyalkanoic acid, and (1) the content of an R-body being 95-100 mass% or more, or (2) the content of an S-body being 95-100 mass% or more, where the total amount of the hydroxyalkanoic acid accounts for 100 mass%.
