Abstract:
A leaking direction of a leaky ray emitted from a surface of a light guiding sheet is controlled to limit lowering in visibility and to improve a performance as a surface illuminant. Obliquely upward-directed surface portions (12b-1) and obliquely downward-directed surface portions (12b-2) are provided on a light guiding sheet (12). Since the surface portions (12b-1, 12b-2) form leaky rays (12B--1, 12B-2) having deviated azimuth components with respect to a main visibility direction (F) on the light guiding sheet (12), an azimuth distribution of the leaky ray (12B) changes compared with a conventional one, peak azimuths of the leaky ray are each formed on the opposite sides of the visibility direction (F) and the peak intensities of the both are significantly lowered.
