An illumination device of the present invention comprises: a light source (17); a light source substrate (18) which has the light source (17) mounted thereon; an optical incidence face (33a) which faces the light source (17) and receives incident light from the light source (17); a light guide member (30) which has an optical emission face (34) from which said light is output; and an elastic member (40) which biases the light source substrate (18) towards the side of the optical incidence face (33a) of the light guide member (30). The light source substrate (18) is provided with: a mounting face (18a) which has the light source (17) mounted thereon; and an abutment face (18b) which is on the opposite side to the mounting face (18a) and abuts the elastic member (40). A separation-maintaining section (32) is provided between the light source substrate (18) and the optical incidence face (33a) of the light guide member (30), and the separation-maintaining section (32) maintains a prescribed separation between the light source substrate (18) and the optical incidence face (33a) of the light guide member (30).
