Abstract:
This illumination device is characterized by being provided with a display structure having a display surface, a light-guiding plate disposed on the display surface side of the display structure, a first joining member disposed between the display structure and the light-guiding plate, a transparent plate disposed on a side, of the light-guiding plate, opposite to the display structure, a second joining member disposed between the light-guiding plate and the transparent plate, and a light source for applying light such that a lateral surface of the light-guiding plate is illuminated with the light, wherein: the light-guiding plate has a first surface in contact with the first joining member and a second surface in contact with the second joining member; the first surface of the light-guiding plate is flat; the second surface of the light-guiding plate has a flat part substantially parallel to the display surface and a projection that projects from the flat part to the second joining member side; and the projection has a first portion inclined to the second joining member side from upstream to downstream in the light source irradiation direction and a second portion inclined to the first joining member side from upstream to downstream in the irradiation direction.
