Abstract:
One embodiment of this invention is an image adjustment method for: deriving statistical amounts from a first pixel having a first luminance and a second pixel having a second luminance, both of which are within a local region in an input image; deriving a two-dimensional luminance histogram that uses the statistical amounts as numerical values corresponding to the first luminance and the second luminance; deriving numerical values by using a weighting factor determined according to a third luminance, which is greater than the first luminance and not greater than the second luminance, to weight the two-dimensional luminance histogram; deriving a one-dimensional luminance histogram using the numerical values as numerical values corresponding to the third luminance; derives a luminance conversion function such that the derived one-dimensional luminance histogram will be converted into a prescribed histogram; and uses the luminance conversion function to convert the luminance of each pixel of the input image.
