Abstract:
Provided is an image capturing device capable of obtaining high-definition images, even if digital zooming is used, while suppressing the amount of frame memory used for digital zooming. This image capturing device is provided with: an image splitting unit 21 and an edge extracting unit 22 for acquiring edge components for each block obtained by dividing an image captured by an image capturing element; a resolution adjusting unit 23 for writing each block image into a frame memory 30 using a resolution corresponding to the quantity of edge components therein; an image enlarging unit 24 for reading at least one block image corresponding to a selected region from the frame memory 30, and enlarging the block image to a magnification corresponding to the size of the selected region; and an enlarged output unit 45 for outputting the enlarged image of the selected region supplied from the image enlarging unit 24.
