Abstract:
This image capturing unit is provided with: an objective lens unit; oblong or square cover glass affixed on the light receiving surface of an image capturing element; a circular optical member attached to the front end surface of the cover glass and having a diameter smaller than the diagonal length of the cover glass; a holding frame having a circular fitting hole into which the optical member is fitted from behind and which is affixed to the objective lens unit; a protrusion protruding radially inward within the holding frame; a first light blocking member disposed in front of the optical member and blocking light present outside a visual field, the light being that reflected from the inner wall surface of the protrusion toward the inside of the pixel formed region of the image capturing element; and a second light blocking member disposed between the rear end surface of the optical member and the front end surface of the cover glass and blocking light present outside the visual field, the light being that reflected from the side surface of the optical member and propagating at an angle at which the light enters the pixel formed region.
