Provided are an image correction device and an image correction method capable of reducing the area of the device while maintaining the accuracy required for distance detected by a camera. An image correction device 10 is provided with: a chart 30 in which a plurality of markers 301 are arranged; an image acquisition unit 215 that acquires an image captured by a stereo camera 20 which images the markers through a windshield 40; a marker position detection unit 221 that detects the marker positions on the image; and an image correction data creation unit 222 that creates data for correcting distortion of the image captured by the stereo camera 20. In plan view, when viewed from the imaging direction of the stereo camera 20, the markers 301 are arranged on a marker arrangement curve 302 in which an allowable error of detection distance for each viewing angle of the stereo camera 20 and an allowable error of deviation in installation of the stereo camera 20 coincide with each other, or behind the marker arrangement curve 302.
