Abstract:
This image display device comprises: a combiner that guides video light from a display element and external light from an external landscape to a viewer's eyes at the same time; and a resin prism that supports the combiner 3 with the bonding surface thereof and that is bonded so as to act as a parallel planar plate with respect to the external light. The bonding surface is composed of a prism convex surface and a prism concave surface, and the combiner is composed of a dielectric multilayer film that has characteristics for selectively reflecting only light of at least one specific wavelength. The dielectric multilayer film is formed by vapor deposition on the prism convex surface so as to act as a concave reflection surface for the video light and has compression stress as residual stress, or the dielectric multilayer film is formed by vapor deposition on the prism concave surface so as to act as a concave reflection surface for the video light and has tensile stress as residual stress.
