Abstract:
This image reading device is provided with: a rotating magnet portion (42b) which rotates in conjunction with the opening and closing of a document pressing portion (2), and in which an N-pole magnetic pole and an S-pole magnetic pole are arranged in different phase positions in the direction of rotation; a magnetic sensor (43) which is mounted on a reading unit or on a moving body which moves in a sub-scanning direction in conjunction with the reading unit, and which has a magnetic detecting portion (43a) facing a circumferential surface of a magnet portion (42) only when the reading unit is in a prescribed home position; and a determining unit which determines an open or closed state of the document pressing portion (2), and determines whether the reading unit is in the prescribed home position, on the basis of an output signal from the magnetic sensor (43).
