Phase-difference pixels including a photoelectric conversion element and a light-shielding layer are arranged in a first direction in a pixel region of this imaging device. One side in the first direction is the first side, and the other side in said direction is the second side. A first-side region on the first side in the pixel region has a first phase difference pixel group which includes a plurality of phase difference pixels in which the first side of the photoelectric conversion element thereof is shielded by the light-shielding layer thereof, and a second phase difference pixel group which includes a plurality of phase difference pixels in which the second side of the photoelectric conversion element thereof is shielded by the light-shielding layer thereof. The first phase difference pixel group includes first A pixels and first B pixels in which the surface area of the photoelectric conversion element which is shielded by the light-shielding layer is smaller than in the first A pixels. A control unit performs addition readout processing by weighting the pixel signal of the first A pixels and/or the pixel signal of the first B pixels according to the optical properties of the imaging lens.
