Provided are an apparatus and a method that make it possible for a projected image being projected by a drive-type projector to be displayed in alignment with a target position. The apparatus comprises a difference calculating unit for calculating a control amount for eliminating a position error between an image projection target position of a drive-type projector and an irradiation light position of a laser pointer mounted on the drive-type projector, and a projector drive unit for generating and outputting, on the basis of the calculated control amount, a drive command for changing the image projection direction of the drive-type projector. The difference calculating unit calculates, as the control amount, a drive angle error of the drive-type projector which is a cause of position error between the image projection target position and the irradiation light position. The projector drive unit generates and outputs a drive command for reducing the drive angle error to zero.
