Abstract:
Disclosed is an information recording medium equipped with a recording layer that can generate a phase change through application of electrical energy. The recording layer includes as the primary component a material comprised of Ge, Te and Sb. When expressed with the coordinates (Ge, Te, Sb) = (x, y, z) on the triangular coordinates represented by Fig.1, the material has a composition within the region (including the lines from point (a)‑point (b), point (b)‑point (c), point (c)‑point (d), and point (d)‑point (a)) enclosed by point (a) (35, 35, 30), point (b) (32.5, 27.5, 40), point (c) (25, 25, 50), and point (d) (27.5, 32.5, 40).
