Abstract:
Provided is an information retrieval system capable of efficiently discovering information that a retriever wants to know. The information retrieval system comprises: a database (12) for storing multiple pieces of information from which texts can be retrieved; an inquiry sentence acceptance unit (26) for accepting an inquiry sentence having a natural language format; an input retrieval keyword extraction unit (44) for extracting an input retrieval keyword from an inquiry sentence; a retrieval execution unit (40) for executing a retrieval process from the database by using the input retrieval keyword and a keyword related to the input retrieval keyword; and a keyword dictionary (30) in which terms are registered in association with categories. The retrieval execution unit acquires, from the keyword dictionary, terms associated with one category selected by the retriever, reorganizes information retrieved through the retrieval process on the basis of the acquired terms, and displays the results thereof to the retriever.
