Abstract:
Provided is an intake valve of an internal combustion engine, comprising an intake valve body 31 that is slidably supported by a valve guide 15 and that is provided with an umbrella part 33 at one end of a shaft part 32, with a peripheral edge 33c of the umbrella part 33 of the intake valve body 31 being abutted to a valve seat 14 disposed on a peripheral edge 11b of an outlet 11a of an intake port 11, wherein the intake valve is characterized: by being provided with a trumpet-shaped control valve body 50 that has a cylinder part 51 which is slidably guided on the shaft part 32 of the intake valve body 31 and an umbrella cover part 52 that covers an umbrella back surface 33b of the umbrella part 33 from the periphery of the shaft part 32; and in that a peripheral edge 52a of the umbrella cover part 52 of the control valve body 50 extends to the vicinity of a valve seat abutting section 33d of the umbrella part 33. Due to this configuration, backflow of burnt gas within the cylinder into the intake port is suppressed, exhaust efficiency is improved, unburnt fuel discharge in the exhaust gas is reduced, and deterioration of emission is prevented.
